PROJECT

Recently, a global manufacturing and services company began using its research, safety-testing, and product-development facility to test something less technical: customer experience.

Three virtual industrial products were constructed to help the company collect user feedback in a real environment, in real time. The feedback helps the Fortune 500 company push the boundaries of design, accessibility, and interactivity for a range of different user types.

The products are not static displays in a showroom. They are dynamic and functional. Users feel like they are in a real environment. They get the whole experience, which makes it efficient for the company to change components and gather market feedback.

To achieve this, the product platforms need to move easily, so the company can access the products’ internal systems and swap external components without requiring new construction work.

The company provided the vision. Adform Interiors made it a reality. It was a design-build project, with an extra emphasis on design. Adform constructed and delivered a unique design that delivered a realistic user experience and enabled the required modularity.

In many ways, the project was more complex than installing a real product. For example, Adform created a wall façade that was attached to a complex wall frame that slid away from the product for servicing while keeping the product aesthetically pleasing.

In addition, the client had a hard deadline. The team needed the virtual products to be completed to demonstrate several innovations to internal executives. Such a unique project had many variables and unknowns.
